Cultivating a Creative Attitude
“Someone who takes the time to understand their relationship with Source, who actively seeks alignment with their Broader Perspective, who deliberately seeks and finds alignment with who-they-really-are, is more charismatic, more attractive, more effective, and more powerful than a group of millions who have not achieved that alignment.” – Abraham
We are in desperate need of a different type of human being on this planet, one who is connected to their Source and brimming with unique insights. Life pours through the creative individual igniting in them a passion to serve and a commitment to make new and rapid changes on the planet. In fact one could argue that God runs through the creative person. These individuals have a high self-confidence, self-mastery, and put a great deal of unique effort into their achievements. In order to become a fulfilled human being who lives a no limit life we must cultivate creativity in ourselves. The more creative you are as a parent the more creative your child can be. Creative individuals have a unique set of characteristics that set them apart from the masses. Here are the basic attributes of what it takes to be creative.
Live in the present moment.
Creative people become completely absorbed in their project and ultimately in the present moment. They don’t look around to see what anyone else is doing or compare themselves to others. They live and work with intensity, lost in space and time, and have a sense of courage to create masterpieces. For them, time stands still and becomes heightened consciousness. Moments are ongoing and provide a whole and everlasting presence of flow to come through. Individuals that manifest in this way do not use the past as a reference for what they are doing now. They also don’t prepare for the future because they are completely involved in the study and discovery of their creation. This type of compete absorption in a project helps to cast out fears of doubts or failure.
Be innocent like a child
Being open to new experiences and willing to enter into unknown territory is vital to creativity. You must have an open perspective on life to do this and be willing to go where others have not. Being completely innocent is an attribute of the creative individual as it allows for new ideas to flow through into manifestation. The mind that does not know is ready to discover because everything is fresh and joyful. This state of being has been called the beginners mind. Creative people don’t look to the outside world’s belief systems or dogmas for support. They are comfortable that their production will be unique and stand against whatever has been previously produced.
Become more aware of yourSELF than of others
Creative individuals are fiercely independent and will not allow another to think for them. If you are interested in having the freedom to make your own decisions you are on the right path. To enhance creativity you must stop looking to others for approval and focus solely on allowing Source to flow through you in a unique way. The needs of the creative are met intrinsically as they don’t look to outside resources or people for happiness. When you become less aware of others, and more aware of yourself, you are on the road to creativity. Obviously, children should act like children and require others for survival, but adults must lose their dependencies on others. A huge percentage of our energy is lost obsessing over what others are doing or thinking. When we do this we lose a strong self-concept. If we took our power back, this energy could be put forth in new direction.
Lose your fear and move with courage
Creative people have less fears, anxieties and neurotic tendencies. They do not fear their own inherent greatness and embody their strong attributes more than the average person. If you want to become more creative don’t put limits on yourself. Things do not have to be a particular way for the creative individual, rather than being straight and narrow they work concentrically. They are courageous with their belief systems and endeavors, and almost stubborn in completing them. Their persistence in projects will exhaust all those around them, but this quality is vital to make an impact. Many great ideas are lost because people lack the inner motivation to complete tasks.
Trust and letting things happen
When you are in a state of allowing and receptivity a flow of energy will run through you to create new and adventurous projects. This type of allowing goes with the moment and does not resist the event at hand. When you try to change the moment in your mind to be in different then the way it is you are resisting and blocking the flow of energy that is consistently provided by the universe. Creative people tend to be more positive and give up criticism of themselves and others. They choose thoughts that make them feel better in all situations no matter how bad others may think it is. Doubting, choosing, correcting, and judging all take up a significant amount of internal energy. When you are able to go with the flow of life you will increase your positivity, self-confidence, and cultivate a unique type of power.
Unique and Spontaneous
Being unique requires confidence, trust and integrity. Creativity means being unique against the crowd and attacking a problem at hand from your own perspective. It is bringing something completely new into this realm. The opposite of creativity is dullness or conformity, which is a form of doing things the way we were taught. We want to teach our children to think outside the box, to even move the box to an entirely different level of awareness. Creative people become fully engaged in the project and with no other purpose in mind and are able to flow at full capacity.

Simple ways to enhance creativity in young children
On the road to becoming a conscious parent you must begin to move neutrally through the war zone – trying not to make the child the enemy – and accept the resistances that come up inside. Toddlers live within their own world, similar to the Little Prince, on a planet all to themselves. They are angels then devils, are totally disorderly and completely unpredictable. In their world they can fly which is amazing, but scary. Toddlers are creative and spectacular and they live moment to moment. They are open to creativity at this stage and it is our job to maintain this growth and not put limits on their imaginations.
In order to foster creativity we need to work on ourselves first. This can be done simply through daily writing, photography, poems, books, or walks in nature. Living a creative life will then transfer to our children. Getting creative can help us to maneuver through the challenging parental moments. The more time we put into our own creativity the more we can become creative with them. Not only in the way that we respond to their unmet needs, but also in the activities that we do together that help to nourish their soul. We can help to foster this aspect in our children by creating a home environment that enhances growth. Here are a few things you can implement into your home:
1. If you have small children make sure they have a table that fits them. Place white paper out (even taped down to the table). Ensure the children have crayons or washable markers available for art. Don’t be afraid to get messy.
2. Create a place in your house that has art supplies that are easy to pull out. Let them choose their activity and set up.
3. When you are with your children, or creating art, focus on playing and not on the end product. Be present in each moment and don’t control their creations.
4. Allow them to be different – allow them to be themselves. This may help you confront your own fears about not fitting in the group.
5. Make sure your children know that creativity comes through us – not completely from us. Show them through example that they can tap into this type of energy anytime.
6. Allow unstructured play outside
7. Minimize television and computer use.
8. Boredom is an amazing feeling and some say it is the highest feeling on earth, because it brings the quiet mind. Don’t allow your children to be afraid of it. If children complain of being bored make sure you let them know how lucky they are! This type of unstructured time allows for rest, grounding, and space. It helps them to structure their time and find ways to entertain themselves.
